Hong Kong market fell to profit taking.
The Hong Kong market opened higher on Wednesday. Hang Seng index rose 32 points; H share index rose 24 points and technology index rose 55 points. Ping An rose 1.25% for 18 point-gain. Alibaba rose 0.73% for 10-point gain. CNOOC rose 2.74% to lead the gainers. Meituan lost 0.66% for 9-point loss. Sunny Optical lost 2.56% to lead the losers. A shares opened up 0.14%. Shanghai composite index rose 5 points. The market rose further after opening. Hang Seng index gained more than 100 points. Oils led the blue chips. CNOOC, Petrochina and Sinopec rose from 2% to 5.6% to lead the market. Tencent rose 2% for 52 point gain and contributed the most in points. Carmakers rose strongly. Geely rose 3.25%. BYD rose 4.8%. Yadea rose 6%. Biotech stocks rose. Innovent rose 3.7%. Zai Lab rose 3.6%. Metal stocks rebounded. Jiangxi Copper rose 4.7%. Chalco rose 3.6%. Luoyang Moly rose 5.4%. Zijin rose 4.2%. The market turned from gain to loss in midmorning. Financials led the fall. AIA fell 1.65% after setting record high for 50-point loss. HSBC lost 0.7% for 15 point loss. Infrastructure shares soared. CRRC rose 10%. China Rail Construction rose 4.8%. China Comm Con rose 4.55%. A shares closed the morning down 0.08%. Shanghai composite index closed down 3 points. The market fluctuated between gain and loss in the morning. HSI went from +138 to -31 points. Hang Seng index closed the morning down 8 points. H share index closed down 18 points. Technology index closed down 30 points. Turnover was $112.1 billion.
The Hong Kong market fell further in the afternoon. A shares fell and Hong Kong shares followed lower. Hang Seng index lost more than 100 points. AIA lost 1.36% for 41-point loss. HSBC lost 1.6% for 35-point loss. Meituan lost 2.85% for 39-point loss. Xiaomi lost 3% for 38-point loss. On the contrary, Tencent rose 1.52% for 41-point gain. CNOOC rose 8.5% for 27-point gain. Petrochina rose 5.24% and Sinopec rose 3.44%. The three oils were the top gainers. Ping An rose 1.76% for 25 point gain. Macau gaming stocks were mixed. Galaxy rose 2.1%. The chairman of Sands died overnight. Share price fell 0.6%. Sinosoft issued positive profit alert. Share price rose 12%. Infrastructure plays soared again. CRRC rose 12%. CR Construction rose 5%. China Comm Con rose 4.3%. China Rail rose 2%. Jiumaojiu rose 8% but Haidilao lost 1%. A shares closed down 0.27%. Shanghai composite index closed down 10 points. Hang Seng index fell to a low of 28136, down 140 points. The market had support at low level. The market rebounded and the loss narrowed. Hang Seng index closed down 41 points. H share index closed down 32 points. Technology index closed down 57 points. Turnover was $202.1 billion.
